Upcycle Dress Shirt Class

Upcycle an old dress shirt and turn it into a fabulous feminine top for yourself or your bestie.

You will bring a dress shirt of your choice and "all-purpose" thread to match.

I will provide the sewing machines and all of the tools needed to create a one of a kind fashion statement.

*Childcare is available for $25/child. Dylan Meeks is a 21 year old Senior at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and graduate of Carmel High School. She has many years of experience babysitting and nannying. Three children must be registered for the $25 price.

You can use men's or women's dress shirts.

The "Ruffled Collar" and "Contrasting Placket" shirts look best if the shirt fits you fairly well. 

The "Puffed Sleeve" and "Synched Waist" shirts are best with an oversized shirt, men's or women's.

Ruffled Collar

This can be made with the bottom portion of your shirt, or you can purchase a contrasting fabric to make the ruffle.

Supplies: Dress Shirt and "all-purpose" thread to match

Puffed Sleeve and Ruffled Hem

Using pieces you cut from your shirt, you can create a ruffled hem. The sleeve is gathered with a narrow - 1/4 inch wide -elastic.

Supplies: Dress shirt, 1/4" wide elastic, and "all-purpose" thread to match.

Synched waist

This waist is synched with cording, but you can use ribbon, elastic or buttons.

Supplies: Over-sized shirt, ribbon, cording, or 8 -3/8ths inch buttons, and "all-purpose" thread to match.

Contrasting placket, pocket, and cuffs

Using a contrasting fabric you can add a pocket, button placket and cuffs to create a fun bohemian look.

Supplies: Dress Shirt, 1/3 yard contrasting fabric, "all-purpose" thread to match.
